Introduction
The profession of cooking at New World allows players to craft foods that regenerate health and mana, increase their attribute points, increase their luck while gathering, and increase their maximum equipment score for an applicable trade while brewing. In our New World Cooking Guide, we’ll walk you through everything you need to know about cooking in the New World.
Cooking in a new world
To start cooking, you simply need to gather some ingredients for cooking, head to a kitchen or fire pit, and press the default “E” key to start brewing. Cooking on a campfire is limited to recovery food and fishing bait. You can’t craft any food attributes, exchange food or dyes in a camp.
It
is also important to consider the level of kitchen you are using. You’ll be limited to cooking items of the same level as the craft station you’re using. Therefore, to create level V food at the end of the game, you will need to find a level V kitchen. Healthy, mana foods, such as large meals, do not require improved cooking.
Once you’re at the craft station, select the item you want to create and, if you
have the necessary ingredients, you’ll simply select the blue CRAFT button, or use the slider to create several of the same item if you wish
.
Every time you cook an item, you’ll be rewarded with culinary expertise. As your dining experience increases, so will your cooking level. Cooking is limited to level 200. As you progress through the cooking level, you’ll be able to cook higher-level foods.
Ingredients
When starting, be sure to pay attention to the drop-down menus for food. The set will default certain ingredients for your recovery foods and food components. You can select from a wide range of ingredients to make those foods, and some of the ingredients are MUCH easier to get than others. Be careful not to use rare ingredients that were selected by default when making your low-level food.
Selecting rarer ingredients doesn’t enhance your lower-level food. If you use higher-level ingredients for the “raw food” option, you will have the opportunity to craft additional items, but the quality of the food does not change.
A quick note about the user interface. You may notice that while cooking there is a message that says “No bonus can be added to this item”. That area is reserved for other craft professions. For example, if you use an Arcane station, you will be able to apply special resources that will give your created object a specific advantage, and you can create using Azoth, which will increase the chances of your item having attributes and gem slots. Because the consumables you make with the kitchen have no attributes or advantages, you don’t have those options available.
Different types of food and fans
Food in the New World is divided into 4 different categories. Each food category ranges from Level 1 to Level 5 (you can see all foods and their benefits in our database):
Recovery Food Attributes Food
- Commercial Skill Food Food Food
- foods
Components Recovery
are used to regain both health and mana. Health recovery foods will allow you to regain X amount of health (the higher the food level, the more health you will regain) per second for 20 seconds, but recovery will stop if damage is taken. Afterward, you will regain 1% of your health every 2.5 seconds for X minutes (the higher the food level, the longer the duration).
Mana recovery foods are called “energizing” rations or meals. This type of food will give you a higher mana regeneration rate by X% (the higher the food level, the higher the regeneration rate) for X minutes (the higher the food level, the longer the duration).
You will have, by default, the recipes to make the 5 levels of both types of recovery foods from level 1. However, to make the level 5 recovery feed, you must work up to 150 cooking.
Attribute foods
are divided into the following:
- Strength
- Dexterity
- Focus
- Food
foods
Food Food Intelligence
foods
constitution Attribute foods
will increase the specified attribute for a specific period of time depending on the level of food your craft is. These foods also grant you health recovery while the food aficionado is active.
You will only have access to level II versions of these foods by default. You’ll need to find recipes for the remaining levels (more on this below).
Within each of the categories, you can make a pure attribute food or a combined attribute food. For example, if you want additional strength attribute points, you can make the Level 2 pork chops and applesauce to get 10 additional strength attribute points for 25 minutes.
You can also create a combination of strength and constitution by making broccoli soup with cheese. This would increase its strength by 6 and its constitution by 4 for 25 minutes.
The other attribute foods follow this same pattern. Any food attribute you’re making will always have that attribute as the primary attribute, and then, depending on the food you make, it could also have another secondary attribute.
Commercially skilled foods are divided into both food processing and gathering. For each harvesting profession you can craft a food that will increase your luck by a specific amount, and for each craft profession that has associated team scores, you can craft a food that will increase your minimum and maximum equipment score for craft items over a specific period of time. This applies to the following:
- Armor
- Jewelry
- Arcana Armor
Engineering
The last category of foods, called food components, are simple ingredients that are used in other recipes, but must first be made. For example, cooking oil is used to make game meat skewers. To get cooking oil, you must first brew some using fish oil and nuts.
Where to find
cooking recipes
By default, you’ll have access to all levels of recovery foods, but you’ll only have access up to level 2 for attribute foods, level 2 for collecting food, and level 3 for making food
.
The remaining recipes will have to be found throughout Aeternum looting containers of provisions. The higher the level recipe you are looking for, the higher the level zone you will have to venture into to find the recipe. Recipes do NOT fall from every box of provisions. They can be hard to find, so it can take quite some time to get the recipes you’re looking for. The recipes found are interchangeable, so you can also buy them at the trading stands.
A rough look at which zone contains which level recipe is as follows:
Level 3 Recipe – Level 16 – 38 Level 4 Recipe – Level
- 36 – 58 Level 5 Recipe – Level 56
- +
You can find all the supply containers in New World by consulting our interactive map and filtering by chests and then by provisions.
Where to find
kitchen ingredients
Cooking ingredients at New World can be sourced in multiple ways. You can skin animals for meat, go fishing, loot boxes of supplies, harvest crops from farms, harvest herbs for spices, and of course, buy ingredients at the trading post.
All animal spawns can be found using our interactive map and filtering by the animal you are looking for. You can also find all the fishing hot spots, supply boxes, crops and herbs using the map as well.
Getting meat, fish and crops is pretty straightforward. He kills animals and skins for meat, goes fish fishing, and harvests crops on farms for crops like carrots, broccoli, pumpkin, etc.
However, spices and other ingredients can be a little harder to come by. Some ingredients are region-specific and can only be found in boxes of supplies in that specific region. See table below. (This table can also be found in our Quick Reference Section)
Spices
Spices in the New World are another ingredient that can be a bit difficult to track. They are obtained by harvesting herbs in the New World. Each herb location can also be found using our interactive map. However, different spices are specific to the region. See the table below
Your chance of getting a spice by harvesting a weed is largely based on your harvest luck and skill level
.
It’s also worth noting the attribute bonuses you get from both dexterity and intelligence. If you’re trying to fully mine/maximize your harvest of cooking ingredients, these attribute bonuses are worth taking. If you want to skin animals and get as much meat as possible.
The skill attribute has the following skinning-related bonuses: +10% skinning speed +
- 20% rush for 3 seconds after
- 10% weight of skinned articles
- (now a total of 20% increase) +10%
- skinning
skinning –
+10% skinning speed
performance
The Intelligence attribute has the following harvest-related bonuses:
+10% harvest speed +
- 5% chance of 1 azoth
- -10% weight of harvested items
- harvest speed (now a total increase of 20%) +10%
- yield increase when harvesting

The tools you use will also play an important factor in how efficient you will be when sourcing your kitchen ingredients
.
How to level cooking
The information contained here about kitchen leveling is to assume that you will gather all your resources yourself. However, you have the option to purchase the resources of the trading post to accelerate your kitchen leveling in New World.
To level cooking efficiently, you’ll want to stick with recovery foods. The attribute and commercial foods will provide more experience per cooked food for each level, but the amount of time spent sourcing the raw materials far exceeds that of recovery foods. You’ll need food components for most of those recipes, and you need very specific ingredients. Recovery feed allows you to use many different ingredients and get the same result.
First Craft Bonus
You get a double XP “First Ship” bonus for each unique recipe or meal. Be sure to use this when possible as you level the kitchen! If you can find items around the same price as the recommended food to make that yields the same XP, do so to take advantage of twice the XP. If the food costs more than twice the price, don’t make it for the day.
The introductory mission line will have you create a portion of light ration that will take you to level 1 of cooking.
Because we are going to use recovery foods to level, the leveling process will be divided into 4 different categories
: Level 1 – 50: Travel rations
- / Energizing travel rations (10 XP per serving) Level 50 – 100:
- Level 150 – 200: Abundant
- Energizing food (675 XP per meal)
Light food / Energizing light food (45 XP per meal) Level 100 – 150: Satisfying food / Energizing food (180 XP per meal)

You can avoid the cost of taxes as you level by using your campground. However, to get a level V camp you must be at character level 55.
Taking them into account will save you some headaches, especially if you are going to harvest the ingredients near the settlement in which you are going to level your kitchen. This will prevent you from having to transfer your ingredients to another city for cooking, although sometimes during later levels this may be unavoidable.
Also consider the following ingredients needed for each level of food you are going to cook
Portions (TIer II
) Raw Food Raw Meal (Tier III) Raw Food Raw Food Tier 3 Raw Food Satetta (
Tier IV) Raw Food Raw Food Raw Food Tier 4 Raw Food
Hearty Meal (Tier V)
Raw Food Raw Food
- Raw Food Raw Food
- As
you can see above, every food level will require the use of raw foods. So while you’re in the open world, don’t rule out killing and skinning lower-level animals, turkeys, collecting nuts, collecting honey from cities, etc. because all those ingredients will remain relevant throughout your kitchen’s leveling process.
Also gather broccoli as you go. If you come across a farm that has broccoli, gather as much as possible and save it for later leveling. You will need it for your level IV meal.
Keep in mind that your large Level 5 meals will require the use of seasonings. So, while gathering your other materials, be sure to harvest herbs as mentioned above in the “Where and How to Find Ingredients for Cooking” section. Any seasoning, including honey, will work for the Tier V recovery food, so it doesn’t matter what zone you’re in while collecting the herbs, so harvest in each zone as you go.
Make sure you DO NOT use your top-level food that you plunder along the way for the first few levels. You’ll need level 3, 4, and 5 ingredients for those foods specifically. Be sure to save them for that purpose and don’t use them for raw food options. Always keep in mind what foods you are using for your level 1 raw foods.
Fishing is a great way to gather the necessary ingredients up to Tier IV, but keep in mind that once you get to the point where you need to craft Tier V recovery foods for the extra cooking experience, you’d still have to harvest seasonings to cook Tier V meals. Fishing is also quite time-consuming. Therefore, the time to gather the required materials is much longer than other methods.
You could max out by making Tier IV meals,
but you would use significantly more ingredients because the XP gain from Tier IV meals is significantly less than that of a Tier V meal
. The
leveling method below will use skinning, harvesting, and looting provision cages when available to obtain the ingredients needed to reach maximum culinary skill. Feel free to mix and match this method with fishing or any other way you feel is suitable for collecting your ingredients.
TIP: Making other foods at the same level is as efficient as creating the ration experience. Portions are easier to prepare because processing requirements are not as restrictive as other foods.
Level 1
– 50
You will begin your leveling process at Level 1 by cooking travel rations or energizing travel rations (or a combination of both). These will give you 10 cooking experiences per elaborate item. To get to the 50th level of cooking, you will need a total of 3,450 culinary experience.
Therefore, you will need to cook:
3,450 / 10 = 345 meals to reach level 50 of cooking
Travel rations use 2 different types of ingredients, raw foods and level 2 raw foods. Be sure to select the drop-down menu while at the craft station and deselect the “Own Items” radio button to see all available options. You can also check our database to see that information as well.
You can mix and match combinations of ingredients, but you can’t use the same ingredient twice. A total of 345 of one ingredient and a total of 345 of another ingredient will be needed.
To get the necessary ingredients, you’ll want to be at Monarch’s Bluff or Everfall. Both areas have an abundance of raw foods that are easy to harvest to get their first 50 cooking levels.
Use our interactive map and filter by nuts, blueberries, carrots, pumpkins, turkey nests, boxes of provisions and herbs.
These resources abound in both zones and can be gathered quickly (be sure to invest in a good sickle and knife to peel
as you go).
As you gather, the ingredients kill any game you see along the way and skin them for meat. Also make sure you are harvesting all the herbs you see. The spices you get will come in handy once you start cooking Level V foods. Also make sure you’re circling the boxes of supplies while gathering the ingredients. Both the boxes at Everfall and the cliff of Monarch drop Tier V raw foods that will be used later. By gathering them early, you’ll save quite a bit of time later on.
Gather any mushrooms you see. They have the possibility of dropping fungi that are raw foods. Also, every time you walk around the city, be sure to collect honey from the hives.
Also remember to collect broccoli as you go. If you come across a farm that has broccoli, gather as much as possible and save it for later leveling. You will need it for your level IV meal.
It’s okay if you gather a lot of lower-level resources, as they can be used on any other level of food during your leveling process. Once you
have at least 345 raw foods (
poultry, honey, nuts, mushrooms, milk, eggs, pork) and some combination of 345 tier 2 raw foods (carrots, Red meat, blueberries, pumpkin) can return to the city and make 345 travel rations or energizing travel rations and reach level 50 cooking.
Level
50 – 100
You now need 31,050 additional culinary experience to reach level 100 (34,500 – 3,450 previous experience). To gain that experience, you will now start cooking light meals or energizing light meals. These will produce 45 cooking experiences per meal.
Therefore, you will need
to cook
:
31,050/45 = 690 meals to reach level 100 by cooking
To do this, you will now need to gather the following:
690 Raw foods (or combination of) 690 Raw foods (or combination of)
- 690 Level 3 raw foods
- (or combination of)
Everfall again is a good option to gather the necessary materials.
Use our interactive map and filter by moose, boxes of provisions, herbs, berries (not blueberries, just “berries”), blueberries, cabbage, melons and potatoes.
Head to the southern part of the area and you’ll find a lot of blueberries and some moose. You loop that runs northwest to cabbage and potatoes and returns to berries and moose until you have the necessary materials.
If there’s too much competition for resources in that area, you can also venture south to Monarch’s Bluff or Windsward for ingredients
.
Be sure to keep looting the boxes of supplies and herbs, and killing and skinning the game for later stages of leveling. It doesn’t hurt to continue harvesting nuts, mushrooms, and other lower-level foods as you go because they are needed at all levels of recovery foods.
Once you have the required
ingredients, return to a settlement that has a level III kitchen and cook the required number of meals to reach level 100.
Make sure you are not using your level 3 in the bottom 2 drop-down menus that are for “Raw Foods”. Make sure you’re using your Level 1 food for those ingredient slots.
Level 100
– 150
You now need 177,750 additional cooking experience to reach level 150 (212,250 – 3,450 previous experience). To gain that experience, you will now begin to cook satisfying meals or energizing satisfying meals. These will produce 180 culinary experience per meal.
Therefore, you will need to cook:
177,750 / 180 = 987.5 (round -> 988) meals to reach level 150 cooking
To do this, you will now need to gather the following:
988 Raw foods (or combination of) 988 Raw foods (or combination of) 988 Raw foods (or combination of)
- 988 Raw foods level 4
- (or combination of
- )
At this point, you should have a decent reserve of Tier 1 foods that you can use for all 3 raw food options. If not, continue harvesting as mentioned above.
Getting the level 4 raw foods starts to get a little more challenging. You may have to visit several zones to meet the total amount needed. The meat needed for your Tier IV meal will be much harder to come by due to its rarity, so your best bet is to harvest broccoli, cauliflower, oranges, and lemons.
You can find broccoli by filtering it on our interactive map and going to spawning located in the specified areas. If the broccoli has not been harvested, you will be able to get a significant amount from each farm. If you’re having trouble getting the broccoli, you’ll need to turn to the other ingredients.
You can find
them looting boxes of supplies (which you can find on the interactive map) and you can use our supply box table to find the areas where each ingredient will be looted from a supply box. Unfortunately, going from zone to zone looting the boxes can be time-consuming, so if you can get the broccoli
Once you have the required ingredients, return to a settlement that has a level IV kitchen and cook the required amount of meals to reach level
150.
Level 150
– 200
You now need 708,660 additional culinary experience to reach level 200 (921,000 – 212,340 previous experience). To get that experience, you’ll now start cooking large meals or energizing hearty meals. These will produce 675 culinary experience per meal.
Therefore, you will need to cook:
708,660 / 675 = 1,049,866 (round -> 1,050) meals to reach level 200 cooking
To do this, you will now need to gather the following:
1050 Raw foods (or combination of) 1050 Raw foods (or combination of) 1050 Raw foods (or combination of) 1050 Condiments (or combination of)
- 1050 Tier V
- (or combination
- of)
raw foods
Like Tier IV foods, meat will be harder to come by than the other options. Also, at this point, you should have harvested enough herbs (as mentioned above) to have the required seasonings. If not, you’ll need to start harvesting herbs to get the necessary ingredients.
You should also have a decent reserve of tier 1 raw foods, so your challenge will be to get the tier 5 raw foods
.
There are no harvestable plants you can grow to get the ingredients. You will have to use rare meat (if you have any) and if not, loot from the supply boxes. A total of 1050 of the following ingredients will be needed:
- Apple Rice
- Bean
- Tomato Coconut
You can use our quick chart to find the location
of ingredients
Once you have the necessary ingredients, head to a level V camp or kitchen and craft the necessary number of large meals or energizing hearty meals to bring your kitchen to level 200.
Maximum cooking level
To get the most out of your kitchen, you’ll want to find a full set of chef equipment. This will increase the chance of cooking extra meals by 20% when doing crafts! Chef Gear can be looted from the appropriate boss OR bought at the auction house. Below is a list of each piece of craft equipment and where you can find it in the open world:
You can also create them from a pattern located in the Kitchen Level III aptitude box. You will also need an earring with the advantage of mastery of the kitchen. To complete the set.
Next, you’ll want to get a set of kitchen trophies! You can have a kitchen trophy in each of your homes (3 in total). Below are the 3 levels of cooking trophies and their benefits.
With your chef team, 3 main cooking trophies and an earring with the Cooking Mastery advantage, you will have a 114% chance of preparing an extra meal when you cook your food! This is extremely important when cooking valuable Tier V foods as statistical foods.
