When I transitioned to a low-carb lifestyle, I struggled to find side dishes that were ketogenic. At first glance, many traditional side dishes, such as baked potatoes, chips, potato chips, pasta salads, and even some plant-based side dishes, were no longer an option.

should I use?
I used a head of green cabbage for this recipe. Do not use purple cabbage as it has a slightly different taste and texture.
What type of bacon should I use?
Use any bacon you want! I used a classic pork bacon, but you can use your favorite type.
How to Make Fried Cabbage with
Bacon This is one of my favorite low-carb dishes! It’s so easy to make, and it’s full of flavor.
Here’s an overview of how this simple ketogenic garnish recipe is made:
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat, add the chopped bacon, and cook
- crispy. When crispy, remove the bacon from the pan with a slotted spoon and place it on a plate lined with a paper towel
- except 1 tablespoon and set aside for later
- Add the chopped onion to the bacon fat and sauté until caramelized.
- Add 1 tablespoon of bacon fat to the pan, then add the cabbage salt, pepper and paprika.
- Cook the cabbage until it has been reduced and is tender enough for your taste
- Add the chopped bacon and serve immediately.

Yes! Cabbage is a staple in my ketogenic diet. It is naturally low in carbohydrates and can be prepared in many ways.
This keto fried cabbage recipe makes four servings, about 3/4 cup each. However, if you like your super tender cabbage and cook it until it is greatly reduced, the portion size will be smaller.
Per serving, this recipe has 14 grams of fat and 3.9 net carbs per serving.
