How to make shredded chicken in
- For starters, you’ll want to place the base of your slow cooker with the chicken breasts, making sure they’re even and not stacked on top of the other (see photo).
- Then add your water and seasonings
- Place your crockpot high for 3-4 hours or low for 6-8 hours. You’ll want to cook until the chicken’s internal temperature is 165 degrees.

Once it is cooked, you can easily crush your chicken with forks or with a blender
. With forks: Simply
crush the chicken
by separating it with two forks. It will be super cute.
With a blender
: My favorite way to crush chicken is using a blender. I throw the cooked chicken into my KitchenAid mixer with the popsicle attachment and light it low-medium until it looks perfectly crumbled. Super easy! You can also use a hand mixer using this method as well.

? You’ll want to
cook your chicken in the
slow cooker over high heat for 3-4 hours or low for 6-8 hours. To make sure the slow-cooked shredded chicken is fully cooked, you’ll want the internal temperature to be 165 degrees.
I recommend cooking lower and slower if possible. Cooking your chicken over high heat can result in dry chicken!

Can you put frozen chicken? chest in the cooking pot?
No, you can’t put frozen chicken breasts in the cooking pot. Cooking frozen chicken is a food safety issue. Your chicken could be cooked outside and raw/frozen indoors, resulting in bacteria/getting sick.
It’s best to thaw your chicken completely before adding it to your cooking pot. To make it thaw faster, put the chicken pack in cold water and change the water every 20 minutes.
How to freeze shredded chicken recipes I usually freeze this shredded chicken
in small bags or containers. Chicken should last 2-3 months in the freezer.
When it’s ready to thaw, simply take it out the night before and let it thaw in the refrigerator overnight or just heat frozen in the microwave or in a pan.
