At our local steakhouse, premium ribs are on the menu every Saturday! It is always tender, juicy and delicious. When I want to serve an awesome dish for our Christmas dinner, this is the recipe I turn to. It comes out perfectly every time. This delicious cut of meat is perfect for special occasions, and luckily, it’s not too difficult to cook. In this tutorial, we will show you how to prepare a boneless rib roast using a simple recipe.
Just three ingredients for a delicious

My recipe for the perfect prime rib uses only 3 ingredients. We love this tender and juicy meat on its own. However, my daughter loves it when I make an au jus sauce. It is also very easy to make, and the addition of au jus seems to make the meat melt in the mouth with a rich and incredible taste.
To
cook a premium rib roast, it is important to choose the right cut of meat. The best cuts of meat for roasting are those that come from the rib area. These cuts are well marbled, meaning they are high in fat, which helps produce a juicy, tasty roast. Buying beef classified “Prime” is a good guarantee of this fat content.
Do you have to eliminate excess fat?
No. The butcher should have already removed any excess fat. There could be up to an inch of fat on the roast. Leave it on. Why? Fat is what you need to flavor the roast and to make it juicy and tender. It’s an expensive cut of meat, so let it act to help make it as tasty as possible.
How many guests does Prime Rib Roast serve
?
Determining the number of main rib per person depends on what you are serving with it. When serving a boneless roast, plan 8 ounces per person. If you serve a full shelf of premium beef, which is 7 ribs, it will serve 14 people with some leftovers.
If you are serving many other side dishes or other meat, plan 6 ounces per person.

Salt meat
in advance
First, season your meat in advance. Yes, you read that right.
For best results, salt your main rib on all surfaces with kosher salt a minimum of 1 hour before cooking. You can leave it in the refrigerator overnight. Doing this will help season the entire roast, not just the outer layer.

Preheat
oven
Preheat oven to 500°F. The oven temperature starts at a high temperature, then lowers the temperature for slow cooking.
Dry the roast with paper towels. The pre-salt should have caused the roast to release some moisture. Sprinkle the roast all over with salt and black pepper.
If you have a roasting pan
, place the roasted fat side down on a rack to roast in a roasting pan. To be honest, in the early years of my marriage, I didn’t have a pan to grill with a rack, it helps the whole roast cook completely. I bought one as soon as I could afford one. If you have one, I urge you to use it.
Brown roast at 500°F for 15 minutes.
Cook low and slow
Lower the oven to 325°F to finish roasting. It is important to cook the roast slowly and at low temperature. This allows the fat to surrender, resulting in a tender and succulent piece of meat.
The total cooking time will depend on the shape of the roast, how cold your roast is when it enters the oven and the heating of your oven. A flatter roast will cook faster than a thicker one. A cold roast will take longer than one closer to room temperature.
To calculate the total cooking time, expect about 11 to 12 minutes per pound for weird and 13 to 15 minutes per pound for medium rarers.
How to know if Prime Rib is done?
A meat thermometer is the
best way to ensure perfectly cooked meat, and a good instant-read thermometer is best for the job.
Take the temperature in the thickest part of the roast.
Pro advice. When tempting meat, remember that the roast temperature will continue to rise by 5 to 10°F while you rest. Therefore, remove the roast from the oven at the following temperatures to obtain the perfect finish.
Here are the meat temperatures to aim for:
Medium
Rare 115
to 120°F (125 to 130°F after rest)Medium 125 to 130°F for
medium (135 to 140°F after rest)
Let roast rest
Cover the roast with aluminum foil in tent and let it sit at room temperature for 15 to 30 minutes before carving. The internal temperature of the roast will continue to rise while the roast is at rest. This will also allow the juices to remain in the meat instead of running all over the cutting board when cutting.
To cut the
roast into
boneless roasted rib slices, with a sharp knife for carving, cut the meat through the serving grain, making the slices about 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch thick. Always cut against the current for best results.
If you have done a standing rib roast, you can cut each section of ribs to serve the steak.
Make Au Jus sauce It’s
easy to make your own au jus sauce. It just makes the meat much tastier, and it seems to melt in my mouth.
Here’s how.
Pour the drops from the pan into a measuring cup. Pour 1 cup of the liquid back into the pan.
Place the roasting pan on the stove over medium-high heat. Scrape the bottom of the drops from the pan so that all the tasty pieces stick to the pan. Bring to a boil.
Meanwhile, combine 1/4 cup
of flour with 3/4 cup of water, milk, or meat broth.
Once the drops in the pan are boiling, add the flour mixture. Continue beating while adding 3 more cups of water.
Taste the flavor and add salt and black pepper as needed.
Serve in small cups.
When
served with au jus and horseradish cream, the premium rib roast is an impressive and delicious Christmas dinner. Leftover ribs can also be used to make sandwiches, tacos or soup. So next time you’re looking for something special, consider making a premium rib roast.

best way to reheat
Prime Rib
The preferred method of reheating Prime Rib is in the oven. Preheat to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Add the prime rib slices to a baking sheet with a few tablespoons of water or meat broth so it doesn’t dry out.
Bake until the meat is very hot, about 10-15 minutes.
stove. You can reheat the slices in a pan on the stove. Over medium heat, add some olive oil to the pan and add a steak to the pan. Heat 2-3 minutes on one side and rotate to warm up the other side.
microwave. This is my least favorite method as you can get some tricky spots on the edges. However, it is probably the fastest. Add a steak to a microwave-safe dish and reheat in 1-minute increments until heated.

This premium rib recipe uses simple ingredients and makes an amazing statement. While we’re lucky enough to have some steakhouses nearby serving a great steak, making this great recipe at home just can’t get any better.
